Classification :
According to Para 1 – This section is Bailable, Non-cognizable and Compoundable by the person defamed.
According to Para 2 – This is section is Bailable, Non-cognizable and Compoundable by the person defamed with the permission of the court.
Triable By :
According to Para 1 – Court of Session.
According to Para 2 – Magistrate of the first class.
Punishment :
Simple imprisonment for 2 years, or fine, or both.
