Definition of IPC 116:
Abetment of offence punishable with imprisonment-if offence be not committed.
Classification :
According as offence abetted is bailable or non-bailable, According as offence abetted is cognizable or non-cognizable and Non-compoundable.
Triable By :
Court by which offence abetted is triable.
Punishment :
According to Para 1 – Imprisonment extending to a quarter part of the longest term, provided for the offence, or fine, or both.
According to Para 2 – Imprisonment extending to half of the longest term, provided for the offence, or fine, or both.
